Rumors around the league on veteran Zdeno Chara have been conflicting throughout the summer. Some reports have been that the long-time defenseman has already announced his retirement, while several have stated that multiple teams are interested in bringing him on a depth deal.
One of the most popular rumors is a Chara reunion with the Boston Bruins, where he served as team captain for 14 years and hoisted the Stanley Cup in 2011. Even if he doesn't play for the Bruins, fans would love to see him signed to even a one-day deal to retire a Bruin, if anything.
Well, to add a little fuel to the fire of rumors, 'Big Z'' was recently spotted in Boston, as Boston Globe Sports shared on Instagram:
''I want to be low-key.» former Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara told me as he walked from Warrior Ice Arena, where the Bruins were holding a captain's practice. Chara has not decided on playing this season, but speculation is he may play his final career season with the Bruins joining old teammates David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron.''
Not only was the former captain and fan favorite spotted in the city, but according to Boston Globe writer Matt Porter, he stopped in somewhere familiar to say hello:
