Head coach Bruce Cassidy wanted a couple of things to happen when he announced that Jeremy Swayman would be the club's starting goalie in game three against the Hurricanes. He was hoping the rookie goalie would fix the inconsistencies he suffered late in the regular season and to play like he was earlier in the season when he looked like he could be the future of the Bruins' crease.
In his first career playoff start, Jeremy Swayman made 25 saves on 27 shots to help his club get their first win of the series against the Hurricanes. Swayman stated that starting a must-win NHL playoff game in a sold-out TD Garden in Boston was on his mind the entire game:
I think it's evident that Swayman will be the starter in game four on Sunday after his stellar performance in game three. If he continues his excellent play, the Boston Bruins have a real chance in the series against the Carolina Hurricanes. Jeremy Swayman can quite honestly be the game-changer in this entire best-of-seven series.
