During the regular season, the Carolina Hurricanes may have had their way with the Boston Bruins. They beat them all three times and outscored them by a total score of 16-1.

None of that matters come playoff time, as everyone in the hockey world will say.

That's what the head coach of the Bruins, Bruce Cassidy, thinks anyways. He discussed how experience is the most important factor in the postseason when it comes down to it.

"I think it [experience] helps. When you have adversity, and we know that's going to come, we got to play through, focus on the next shift, the next game, whatever it is. I think Carolina has some now, [they] built that over the years, maybe not the first go-round we played them, but they've been right there every year now for three or four years. Is it an advantage we have a few older guys in there that have won? I'd say marginally"

The Bruins have players like Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, who won the Stanley Cup together in 2011, who have played a combined 292 playoff games and who will undoubtedly be Boston's most prominent leaders.

The Hurricanes don't lack experience either. Carolina's captain Jordan Staal has appeared in over 100 playoff games and won a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2009. Veteran Derek Stepan has also played in over 100 postseason games and lost in the Final with the New York Rangers back in 2014.

Boston doesn't have the likes of Zdeno Chara, Tuukka Rask or even a guy like Adam McQuaid anymore, but they have a little more experience than the Hurricanes, which may be a defining factor in this series.
