Charlie McAvoy has easily been one of the NHL's best two-way defensemen over the past few seasons, and he showed off his offensive capabilities with the game-winner last night in St. Louis.

McAvoy now has 9 goals and 44 assists on the season and should be considered for the Norris Trophy with his elite defensive game. However, with d-men like Roman Josi and Cale Makar in the NHL, who will both reach close to 100 points this season, his name won't even be part of the conversation.

Charlie broke down what was going through his head when Jake DeBrusk fed him the puck in the slot in overtime:

"I was hoping, you know when guys are coming [from one way], you hope they kind of over-commit so then your lane is where they're coming from and vice-versa, so that was all I was kind of thinking of."

He also discussed his recent offensive struggles:

"Not a lot of them have been going in lately, but that one went in, so it was nice."
