The Boston Bruins have had a serious problem over the course of the 2021-22 season.
The Bruins currently lead the league in the total amount of goals allowed in the final minute of any period, including overtime. Boston gave up a goal to the Florida Panthers in the last minute of the first period tonight to tie the game at two apiece.
Sam Reinhart of the Panthers scored with just 0.6 seconds left on the clock; here's the video of the play:
The Bruins have given up three more goals in the last minute than the next closest team, which is the New York Islanders. Here's the updated list with OT goals subtracted:
1. Boston Bruins - 21
2. Islanders - 18
3. Red Wings - 17
4. Sabres - 16
5. Canadiens - 14
Somehow the Bruins lead this statistic but are still in the top-10 of the NHL Standings. They're the only team in this category that are in the playoffs, as the rest of the teams are in the bottom twelve of the standings.
It's a problem that the Boston Bruins have to fix for the postseason if they want to make any kind of run.
