The Boston Bruins outshot the Ottawa Senators 16-8 and lead 2-0 after the first period in Thursday night's matchup.
Rookie Marc McLaughlin scored his third of the season 6:36 into the period, assisted by Nick Foligno and Curtis Lazar.
Another Bruins rookie, Jesper Froden, is playing in his sixth game this season and first since March 3rd. The 27-year-old scored his first NHL goal on a deflection with 59 seconds left in the period, which was also his first career point.
He deflected a Matt Grzelcyk point shot from the high slot (while missing a glove). The second assist was from Taylor Hall.
