The Boston Bruins defeated the Florida Panthers Tuesday night by a score of 4-2, outshooting them 38-21 in the process. Although the Bruins gave up a goal with just 0.6 seconds left in the first to tie the game at 2 apiece, after that, they outshot the Panthers 25-10 and didn't let in another goal.

With the win, the Bruins also clinched at least the first Wild Card spot and still have an opportunity to climb into third place in the Atlantic Division by remaining perfect in the last two games and some good luck.

Not dropping to the second Wild Card spot is crucial because it would mean they would meet the Panthers in the first round, although they just beat them; Florida is a team the Bruins would like to stay away from in the postseason if they can.

Head coach Bruce Cassidy was made available to the media following the win. He commented on the team's ability to shut down the number one team in the NHL:

"We could've managed the puck better here or there, but at the end of the day, and the whole picture, especially the third period protecting the one-goal lead, we didn't give up [a lot], maybe one or two chances ... They didn't look like to me that they [Florida] didn't have their usual jump, for whatever reason, but we gotta take our share of credit for getting in their way ... but I certainly liked the way our team performed."

Even if Florida didn't play up to their full potential, last night was a statement game by the Bruins. If Boston is fully healthy, they can be a very dangerous team and are trending in the right direction before the playoffs.
