Three years ago today, Bruins defenseman Torey Krug threw one of the most memorable hits in recent memory against Blues forward Robert Thomas. It was May 27th, and game one of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden between the Boston Bruins and the St. Louis Blues.
It was late in the game, with just over ten minutes remaining in the third period, when Krug and David Perron were involved in a scuffle in front of Tuukka Rask and the Bruins' net. After Perron ripped off his helmet and the two exchanged some punches, Krug was visibly upset, so he let his anger out with a massive hit on Thomas after skating the entire length of the ice.
Boston came back from 2-0 in game one to eventually win 4-2; however, the Blues got the last laugh, as we all know and won the Stanley Cup in seven games.
