It was a wild night at MSG yesterday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers were facing off for the first game of their best-of-seven series and things got exciting right from the start.

The Rangers took a one-goal lead into the first intermission, but a wild second period saw both teams tied up a 3-3 after 40 minutes.

From that point on however, nobody expected that four more periods of playoff hockey would be needed before finding a winner!

The wild night came to an end when Pens forward Evgeni Malkin was finally able to redirect a puck out of midair past New York's Igor Shesterkin.

At the end of the night, the game lasted more than 105 minutes of play, with both teams combining for more than 150 shots on net in the outing.

What a promising start to the intense battles this series is going to bring!
