How good is the Boston Bruins goaltending duo of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman?
Analytics expert @JFreshHockey recently did a fan survey on Twitter to rank the NHL's goaltenders, which was based on his advanced stats.
He ranked every goalie in tiers, with only a select few as the league's very best:
Hard to argue that there is any other goalie that quite matches how good those top four are.
''Even Tier Two, comprising of goalies the plurality of voters ranked as "very good starters," was an exclusive club.
Jake Oettinger clearly did well for his reputation in round one of the playoffs.'' Tier Three' is where both Bruins goaltenders landed in the ranking. JFresh describes this category as:
''Tier Three consists of goalies the plurality of voters considered to be solid NHL starting goaltenders.''
Statistically, the Boston Bruins have two goaltenders that are considered solid starters'.
With Swayman at 19th and Ullmark at 26th, the B's duo ranks as 9th in the NHL
