In a Friday trade deal, the New York Islanders bolstered their roster by acquiring Robert Bortuzzo from the St. Louis Blues. In exchange for this seasoned defenseman, the Islanders parted with their seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Bortuzzo boasts an impressive 10-season tenure with the Blues, contributing significantly to their 2018-19 roster that clinched the Stanley Cup. Over his 14-season NHL career, he has notched 74 points, comprising 20 goals and 54 assists, along with accumulating 491 penalty minutes in 537 regular-season games. Additionally, Bortuzzo has showcased his playoff prowess, amassing three points (two goals, one assist) and 42 penalty minutes across 47 postseason appearances.

Despite his notable track record, Bortuzzo has yet to register a point in the current season, marking a deviation from his usual performance. Originally acquired by the Blues through a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015, Bortuzzo was a third-round selection (78th overall) by the Penguins in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Stay tuned for more updates on this trade and its impact on both teams.
