Last we knew of Patrik Laine he hadn't exited the NHL/NHLPA players assistance program, as of June 30th.

However, according to Aaron Portzlie of The Athletic, there remains interest in the Blue Jackets winger and former 40 goal-scorer.

Teams can trade for Patrik Laine, while he's still in the Player's Assistance Program.

"He is still in the NHL player's assistance program. He can be traded while he is in it, but the teams interested in acquiring him and the Blue Jackets would like to talk to him, but until he is cleared from the program they are unable to speak with him. He is close to being cleared, but until that happens, I don't see a trade occurring," Portzline on Patrik Laine.

But, the news is he hasn't cleared from the program yet, which makes the discussion part of the move difficult.

Many teams interested would like to talk with the team and Laine, and even his own current team the Blue Jackets aren't able to speak with him.

So GM Don Waddell and the Blue Jackets have to be patient until he is cleared to return to the NHL in the meantime.

So, it sounds like teams can negotiate with the Blue Jackets to begin the basis of a trade, but nothing official as the team wants to hear Laine's views of his next landing spot.

So it seems logical that the Bruins and Don Sweeney could be vying for a top-six winger, like Laine?
