The Boston Bruins have some decisions to make to do, once they figure out the coaching situation, GM Don Sweeney could turn to the line to tweak.

One of those Bruins who could see themselves in another uniform very soon is third-line center Charlie Coyle.

Coyle, like many Boston Bruins, have underperformed this season after putting up 25 goals, and 60 points in 2023-2024.

Coyle would be an easy deal for assets, and prospects as he only has an eight-team no-trade clause currently.

In 2025, it declines to 3 which would make a trade a little easier to facilitate between GM Don Sweeney and the club with which he'd be dealt.

Coyle's only put up 1 point in 11 games, which is uncharacteristic of the Center, since he's been on an uptick since he arrived in Boston.

Coyle has been demoted from the second to the third line, as he has had a slow start to the season.

The center's contract might be a little much for some teams to take on, with a cap hit of $5.25 Million.

With the salary cap increasing at the end of the season, Don Sweeney could make a move easier by retaining a percentage of his contract.

Prior to the beginning of the season in August, Coyle spoke of wanting more responsibility in the Bruins organization.

«I think having another year under your belt and with [Bergeron and Krejci] gone and knowing kind of what to expect - everyone's roles kind of changed a little bit,» Coyle said of adjusting to his elevated minutes in 2023-24. «There's more responsibility put on some guys and I want more responsibility on my shoulders.

«That's why you play. You want that and I got a little more of that with playing different situations last year. So that's huge. That can only help to get acclimated with that. I want to be a guy who plays in all sorts of roles and be important to the team. We all do. And I think we can take another step forward here this year.»

It seems he's failed to grab that brass ring and run with it. Now will Don Sweeney have to find a rebuilding, or re-tooling club to give Coyle a fresh start? It's the ideal move, considering the Bruins don't have a cache full of assets unlike a team like the Blackhawks.
