Today Elliotte Friedman announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Valtteri Puustinen on waivers, and this is a perfect opportunity for the Bruins to make a move after Sweeney has been talking about wanting to make some roster moves.
Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has talked about wanting to make some roster changes , and this is the perfect opportunity for the Bruins to do that.
The Boston Bruins just recently fired head coach Jim Montgomery, which was a big move by the Bruins by itself, but that doesn't mean that Don Sweeney won't go out and still make roster changes like he stated he is going too.
Now with Valtteri Puustinen being placed on waivers, the Bruins are given a perfect chance to do just that, they would acquire a young, fast and talented player that could provide the secondary scoring the Bruins are looking for, and it wouldn't cost them anything.
This year Valtteri Puustinen has appeared in 10 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and only has two points, a goal and an assist, but last year he appeared in 52 games with the Penguins and had 5 goals, 15 assists for 20 points.
Now getting Puustinen won't be a game changer for the Boston Bruins, but it could be a move that pays off down the line as he could provide some secondary scoring.
Last year Puustinen put up some solid numbers while playing on a struggling Penguins team, and also playing a depth role with the team where he mainly played three line ice time.
This would be a great first move Don Sweeney could make to shake things up on the Bruins roster, and would open up more trading opportunities for him down the line.
