Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov opened the door on the failed contract negotiations between his camp and the Vancouver Canucks.
He was a guest on the What Chaos Hockey Podcast when he explained the process he went worked with the Canucks and how he felt that he was disrespected by the negotiations and how the team saw him in their plans.
«Right now, it's probably a little bit disrespectful to talk about your exes,» Zadorov said with a laugh on a recent episode of the What Chaos! Podcast. «We wanted to stay at the startWe tried to sort it out but there's a point in negotiations when you check boxes and then a couple things didn't go the way we wanted to, and [it] kind of felt a little bit disrespectful, too.»
Zadorov made it clear that both parties disagreed prior to the playoffs beginning and after they lost in the second round to the Edmonton Oilers, they tried to re ignite negotiations which failed to reach an agreement. Zadorov said high praise to Vancouver's head coach Rick Tocchet where he admired his system and how it was designed to help young players.
«We disagreed on the details before the playoffs and postponed the negotiations,» Zadorov said at the time. «After the playoffs, when I was in Vancouver, we tried to reach an agreement, but unfortunately, it didn't work Tocchet has a great system and is a great teacher who helps young players develop their skills. His analysis is excellent, and he understands how to prepare his players for each game.»
In the end, the Bruins came out the winner as they have locked in Zadorov in a four-year deal worth $5,000,000 per season. Zadorov and the Bruins opened their season with a 6-4 loss to the Florida Panthers.
