Yesterday, the Boston Bruins made a major announcement regarding David Pastrnak and Pavel Zecha as both men played on the Czechia hockey team where they won gold in the World Hockey Championships.

After their bitter defeat to the Florida Panthers in the second round, both Zacha and Pastrnak chose to fly overseas and play for their home country. Winning at home also added extra joy for both players as their team went on to beat Switzerland 2-0.

Pastrnak said: "I didn't think there was a goal that could get me down on my knees sliding. But that's the emotion I felt and it was crazy. I'd told myself I will never do that celebration and something just exploded. It was all that emotion, the fans, the whole country."

Pastrnak scored the go-ahead goal and David Kampf scored the empty netter to secure the gold for the home team. Both players entered the tournament late as they arrived on May 20th Anne only scored a goal each but both were difference making goals.

«This is always so special. [The tournament] was at home, and I've never played at home,» Pastrnak said. «It would be really hard for me to say no. Obviously, when I'm healthy, I will never say no to the national team.»

Taking the gold medal is a small consolation prize for both Bruins players as they had high hopes that they would be able to win the Stanley Cup this year.

Now that this tournament is over, both Pastrnak and Zacha will prepare for the offseason as they will tend to their wounds, get some rest and prepare to be ready for training camp which will begin in late September.
