Bruins Nikita Zadorov Didn't Hold Back Following Bruins Win And Called Out Red Wings Forward
Boston Bruins Nikita Zadorov had some interesting words for Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond following the Bruins overtime win.
Nikita Zadorov felt that Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond had broken an unwritten rule during their game on Tuesday night, and did not hold back when speaking about it following the game.
The 6-foot-6, 248 pound defenseman took exception to Raymond after being called for a slashing penalty with 5:51 left in the second period. After the penalty was called Zadorov went after Raymond and gave him a cross-check in the back.
Nikita Zadorov was clearly not a fan on how Raymond reacted, and following their 3-2 overtime win, Zadorov went after him again while speaking to the media.
«I don't like when the guy's shaking his hand. I barely touched his hand, so I think that's got to get out of the league,» Zadorov told reporters, per team-provided audio.
«It's a man's league. We all get slashed. We're all in pain. But you don't go like this and show the referee that you get slashed. So I think it's just a little bit disrespectful, so I went after him.»
Surprisingly Zadorov was only called for the slash against Raymond and not the cross-check, but Raymond got away with the embellishment on the play. Zadorov wasn't happy with how Raymond reacted, after taking his league leading 58th penalty minute.
«The referees, Wes (McCauley) and Jon (McIsaac), they've been in the league for a while,» Zadorov said. «They've seen hard play. They see when guys play hard and I think they even agree it should be out of the league. You don't sell penalties. They see it. That's why there are two refs.»
After serving his penalty, Zadorov and Ben Chiarot got tangled up, and Chiarot was looking for some revenge on Zadorov for his cross-check to Raymond.
Zadorov had quite the night as he also ended up scoring a goal for the Bruins helping them beat the Red Wings.
