Heading into their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Bruins have made a big move by finally demoting Charlie McAvoy after he has been struggling for the Bruins this year.
The Boston Bruins have had one of the worst power plays this year, in fact they currently sit 31st in the league only ahead of the New York Islanders with a 12.4% power play, and now they have made a big change.
Preparing to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Bruins were working on their power play a bit during their morning skate, and have finally made a change.
It was announced that Charlie McAvoy has officially been taken off of the Bruins top power play, and Mason Lohrei has replaced him.
Here are what the power play lines are looking like now:
Fans have been calling for this change for awhile as McAvoy does not seem to be running the top power play well for the Bruins, and giving someone like Lohrei a chance to could be beneficial for the Bruins moving forward.
Charlie McAvoy is having a really down year for the Boston Bruins this year and in 43 games so far this year he only has 5 goals with 14 assists for 19 points on the year and is a plus-3 on the year.
Hopefully this change for the Bruins will actually help them. The Bruins are currently on a five game losing streak, and their power play has been a big problem for them during this run and all year.
