The hockey community and Boston Bruins fans base is mourning the loss of an inspiring person after John Henderson, who had a long road to the NHL has lost his life.
John Henderson was the Boston Bruins oldest living goaltender at the age of 91 years old, until his death was announced this morning.
John Henderson who was a native of Toronto, Ontario was supposed to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but had a outing with the GM which lead to him getting traded to the Boston Bruins where he would end up playing 46 games for the team from 1954 to 1956.
Henderson was known for his big frame standing in at six-foot-five, and was told to play a standup style of play with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he said his height didn't allow him too.
Henderson was told to use a knob of tape halfway down his stick that would be a remind him to stand up if his blocker hand hit it, but he wasn't a fan of it and after a few minutes he went to the locker room and cut the knob of tape off.
This is a tragic loss for the hockey community and our thoughts and prayers are with the Henderson family, and friends.
