Jim Montgomery Reveals Emotional Transition From Boston to St. Louis As He Embarks Upon His New Journey
Jim Montgomery has opened up regarding his emotional transition from the Bruins to the St. Louis Blues as he embarks on his new journey in the league.
This week has been very emotional for Bruins fans, and former head coach Jim Montgomery.
Just five days after being fired by the Boston Bruins, Jim Montgomery was given another chance with the St. Louis Blues as he was named head coach.
Here is what Montgomery had to say about it:
«Crazy. Crazy,» Montgomery told reporters at Madison Square Garden on Monday, per a team-provided video. «There's no other word for it. A lot of emotions.»
Montgomery also didn't mention when St. Louis reached out to him for the head coaching job, but he called it a "whirlwind."
«I'm a firm believer when one door closes, another one opens if you do the right thing,» he said. «It's about your relationships in life. Ultimately, at the end of the day, when we're all done and retired and we're not fortunate enough and privileged enough to be in NHL buildings again, it's the relationships that you have in your life.»
Apparently Jim Montgomery received text messages from Blues players after being fired by the Bruins and also received texts from Bruins players after landing the job with the Blues.
«Those are the emotional swings that I talked about that make it crazy,» Montgomery said. «That's why I talk about why it's a special game with the relationships you build with people.»
Jim Montgomery previously served as a assistant coach in St. Louis before taking on the head coaching position with the Boston Bruins.
He will make his debut with the team against the New York Rangers Monday night.
There were some rumours that Montgomery was going to sign in St. Louis as he still had a house in the city.
Moreover, since Jim Montgomery was fired, the Bruins are trending in the right direction as they sit 2-0 under Joe Sacco.
