Latest Report Reveals The Bruins Are One Of The Top Landing Spots For This Player
With the scratch of Chris Kreider against the team's Hudson River rivals, the New Jersey Devils, could there be a new landing spot for the Rangers lifer? GM Chris Drury hasn't shied away from trading key pieces, like Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko.>
The benching has fueled speculation that the Rangers could move this once, untouchable forward.
Kreider the last three-season in New York has consecutively scored 30+ goals a season and has been a stalwart in the lineup.
"The Kreider thing is very new," Friedman said on The FAN Hockey Show with Matt Marchese and Mike Futa on Monday afternoon. "Kreider does not have full no-move protection and I think there would be interest."
The forward is known for his net-front presence during the power-play, netting dirty goals with ease. And the last five seasons has scored the third-most power-play goals with the team.
This season, however, we've seen a decline in his production on all areas of the ice, as he's only scored 12 points( 11 G, 1 A) in 30 games.
Could Kreider land in Boston?
Could GM Don Sweeney make a trade for the Boston native?
He'd be an improvement for the team's dismal ranking in the power-play at 31sr overall in the NHL.
The Bruins could benefit from Boston's native gritty play and consistent production. Kreider has posted 20 goals in nine seasons during his career in the NHL, with the New York Rangers.
His recent scratch was a surprise to fans and pundits everywhere, as he was benched as a precaution in 2017 and 2022.
But the last time it was for production reasons, was during his rookie year of 2013-2014.
Here's an idea of what a trade with Boston would look like in 2020:
The Rangers send Chris Kreider to the Boston Bruins for Jack Studnicka, a 2020 1st round pick, and a 2021 conditional 2nd round pick (becomes a 3rd round pick if the Bruins don't win the Stanley Cup and Kreider doesn't re-sign). Instead of Studnick, the Bruins could move Fabian Lysell, or Georgii Merkulov instead.
We'd assume they'd ask for picks attached to Lysell, in order to restock their prospect pool.
Would you as a fan, make that trade?
