This, after Oilers President Jeff Jackson announced the hiring a former Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman to run the hockey OPS and put Draisaitl Negotiations in the driver seat for an extension. Draisaitl is entering his final year of his contract and has not expressed a strong desire to remain with the Oilers which has set off trade rumors to the Boston Bruins.
Over the past several months, numerous rumors have surfaced on the Internet regarding Draisaitl heading to Boston as the Bruins continue to search for their number one centre. With the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and David Krecji, the Bruins have seeked out to find depth down the middle.
General manager Don Sweeney managed to get Elias Lynn home out of Vancouver and make him at minimum his second line center. The Draisaitl Rumors continued to grow after Bruins superstar David Pastrnak explained on the Spittin Chiclets that he would love to have Draisaitl on his team when asked during the World hockey championships earlier this summer.
It remains to be seen on how Bowman will manage to fit Draisaitl's contract as many have felt his demands would be north of $13 million a year. In the meantime, Bruins fans will need to wait and watch to see what moved on Sweeney has next.
