Initially, NHL.com revealed that the Devils are willing to move their 10th overall pick to acquire a goaltender. This has been a position that has been sorely lacking with the devils as the team was expected to be a playoff contender during this season.
The Devils continue to falter, and they failed to make the playoffs, in which Fitzgerald decided to fire his head coach Lindy Ruff and begin the task scouring the league for goaltending help.
The Bruins, have a goaltending dilemma of their own where they have an abundance in that position and will need to manoeuvre at least one player out of the lineup. Bruins starter Jeremy Swayman and took a huge step forward in his game during the playoffs and helped the team propelled to the second round and solidify his position as the starting goaltender.
The Bruins hold several goaltender prospects who are making a push for an NHL job including Brandon Bussi he was expected to become the backup of the Bruins behind Swayman.
This leaves Ullmark in the wind and with the Bruins depleted capital in the draft as they do not have a choice till the fourth round, it's likely general manager Don Sweeney will explore this trade option and would give the Devils an instant boost and credibility at the goaltending position.
It remains to be seen on whether a deal can be made but it's certainly plausable that both teams could benefit as they each need something from the other.
