While the Bruins did acquire Elias Lindholm during the offseason, the seven-year $54 million deal hasn't seemed to pay off yet. Lindholm has 14 points( 3 G, 11 A) in 32 games, and has found himself below Pavel Zacha on the depth chart as a 2nd-line center.
The team will need to consider who's available by March, as there are veteran centers who could add some serious punch down the middle.
The Bruins will have to look west to consider someone like Trevor Zegras, who could use a fresh start in the NHL. He's only scored 10 points( 4 G, 6 A ) in 24 games with the Ducks this season.
The Bruins could also consider someone like the New York Islanders Brock Nelson. Whose been a verifiable force for the New York Islanders. In the last three seasons with the Islanders, he's scored 30+ goals and been a reliable center down the middle for the team. He could prove versatile, being able to slot in on the wing as well.
While the team could look within their own division to the Buffalo Sabres, who have Dylan Cozens.
He's a highly-desired center, who hasn't reached his full potential in the NHL. And with the Sabres being on the struggle bus, they could shake up the organization soon.
Other notable forwards the team could pursue: Mikael Granlund, Matt Duchene, and Claude Giroux will be free agents who could be considered as potential additions as either rentals or long-term investments depending on the post-season outlook.l
