Hampus Lindholm's situation with the Boston Bruins just went from bad to worse and he may require surgery.

Yesterday Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery officially revealed the severity of Hampus Lindholm's injury.

The Boston Bruins announced today, after being evaluated by doctors that Hampus Lindholm will be out for "weeks" with a lower-body injury.

#Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm will be out «weeks» according to coach Jim Montgomery.

This sounded like a massive loss for the Boston Bruins considering he has been their best defenceman, and one of their most consistent players as well, but things just got worse.

Today Hampus Lindholm's situation just went from bad to horrible for the Boston Bruins as some new news regarding his injury was revealed.

According to Scoops Keefe Hampus Lindholm fractured his kneecap from blocking Justin Faulks shot.

says it's a fractured kneecap for Lindholm

Here is the shot that fractured his knee:

Hampus Lindholm went to the locker room shortly after blocking this shot from Justin Faulk. Looks like Lindholm took the puck off the left knee.

Some situations a fractured knee cap results in having to get surgery done, hopefully for the Boston Bruins and Hampus Lindholm this is not the case.

But there is a good chance that we won't see Lindholm in the Bruins lineup anytime soon.

Are the Boston Bruins a worse team without Hampus Lindholm?
