There was talk early in the season about the possibility of the Bruins moving Trent Frederic, but the rumors were shut down.
Now, it appears that GM Don Sweeney will have to field multiple callers on the gritty forward.
Since the Bruins just claimed Oliver Wahlstrom off of waivers, the team can afford to offload pieces that aren't working. One of those players is Trent Frederic, who hasn't performed up to expectations since his 40 points(18 G, 22 A) last season.
He's not the only Bruins player who's struggling this season, scoring only 11 points( 5 G, 6 A) in 32 games.
<2>"I've been around long enough to know that what's true today may not be true tomorrow when it comes to contract negotiations, so I'm not going to handicap it," Friedman added. "The Bruins are getting a lot of calls, 'What are you thinking here? Will you keep him? Will he be available?' He's a guy that's definitely got a lot of interest."
The Bruins will face a conundrum, as once December 20th hits the league initiates a trade freeze. So he'd have to accomplish the feat in the next five days, and there's been no word of the return for the former 1st round pick.
His contract will expire in 2025 and will be a UFA so if Sweeney is to get any kind of return for the power forward, now would be the time to do so.
Frederic's cap hit is affordable at $2.3 Million AAV, and he could find buyers on rebuilding teams or contenders.
