After blowing their first two games against the Winnipeg Jets, and Seattle Kraken, the Boston Bruins were in desperate need of bouncing back and winning a massive game.
To begin the road trip the Boston Bruins were being heavily outplayed, and outscored giving up 13 goals in two games and only scoring 2 goals. The chances of a big change being made if the Bruins would have lost a third straight blowout game would have been high.
That did not happen though as the Boston Bruins finally woke up in Vancouver, and the team played one of their most complete games they have played this season. The Bruins scored twice in the first period, and would go on to beat the Canucks by a score of 5-1 at Rogers Arena.
The Bruins needed a quick start after not leading a goal since December 4th when they faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks. The captain opened the scoring for the Boston Bruins just 5:12 into the first period on the power play assisted by David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm.
Nearly three minutes later, Morgan Geekie ended up burying one, proving the outcome of this game would certainly be different then their previous two games against the Jets and Kraken.
The Boston Bruins kept pushing all night, even though they could have let up off the gas due to Jeremy Swayman playing solid making 19 saves. But instead the Bruins kept pushing scoring 1:12 into the second period to give them a 3-0 lead.
David Pastrnak came in clutch for the Bruins and he dominated the game all night long having a four point night, one goal, and three assists.
The Boston Bruins will now turn their attention to the Calgary Flames who they will face on Tuesday, and it's expected that Bruins newcomer Oliver Wahlstrom who was just claimed off of waivers yesterday by the Bruins is set to make his debut with the team.
