There's some bad news in Boston, after Charlie Jacobs tried to reassure us all recently, that the team and Swayman were close in contract negotiations.

According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Bruins and Swayman aren't close at all. This isn't a good sign for fans, as Swayman is legitimately the only starting goalie the team has.

For now they still have time to iron out any details, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Swayman's one-year, $3.475 Million dollar contract has expired at the end of the 2023-2024 season, and neither Swayman nor the team have decided to go to arbitration.

However, even though they aren't working with a third party it seems they've found themselves in a stalemate regardless.

This is counter to what Charlie Jacobs said recently:

"We are still negotiating with Sway. I hope that he's ready to play come training camp. We have some things to work out. I'm sure we'll get there."

Let's remember, that the team shouldn't be cheap, as Swayman has shown he has what it takes to be a regular and post-season performer and won the Jennings Trophy in 2023, along with teammate Linus Ullmark.

He became 1A in 2023-2024, with a 25-10-8 record, 2.53 GAA, and a .916 save percentage.

Mr. Jacobs, pay that man.
