Tyler Bertuzzi, the gritty forward known for his goal-scoring prowess, has often faced questions about his durability and injury susceptibility due to his aggressive style of play.

Recall that he spent a significant portion of the previous season on the sidelines for the Detroit Red Wings due to separate hand injuries sustained while blocking shots. This ultimately led to his trade to the Boston Bruins. It was rumored that Detroit's general manager, Steve Yzerman, had reservations about offering Bertuzzi a long-term contract because of these concerns.

Bertuzzi eventually inked a one-year deal with the Leafs after impressing as one of the most valuable forwards for the Bruins during their remarkable seven-game playoff series against the Florida Panthers last spring. However, his absence from Leafs practice just three games into the current season has raised some eyebrows, even though the team officially cites it as a "maintenance day."

The silver lining is that head coach Sheldon Keefe anticipates Bertuzzi will be ready to play against the Florida Panthers in the upcoming game. Nevertheless, this development is unlikely to ease the worries of Leafs fans who hope to see Bertuzzi on the ice for the majority of the season.
