Playing in his 18th NHL season, Alexander Ovechkin continues to set NHL records.
The Washington Capitals' captain started this season by passing Gordie Howe (786) for the most goals with one team. Tuesday night, Ovie made NHL history once again as tied and then passed another legend for an all-time record.
5:35 into the game against the Vancouver Canucks, with his 12th of the season, Ovechkin tied Wayne Gretzky for the most road goals in league history with 402. Just over six minutes later, Ovie passed ''The Great One'' with his second of the game.
The 37-year-old now has 793 career goals and sits seven away from 800 and eight away from Gordie Howe for second all-time. Ovie needs 102 goals to pass Gretzky and become the all-time leader in goals scored. Can he do it?
