David Krejci was a force to be reckoned with throughout his career with the Bruins. Just last year, the Czech forward picked up 44 points in the shortened 51-game season with Boston.
Despite showing he still had a lot left in the tank, Krejci opted to head back to Czech Republic this season rather than stick to the NHL. The forward wanted to play on home soil after being away from home for so long and he delivered once again for local fans.
Krejci led his club, HC Olomouc, with 20 goals and 46 points in 51 regular season games. He also paced the team's offence with three goals and two assists in the playoffs, but his team was eliminated in the final game of a best-of-five series.
Jan Dockal, the Sports Editor over at MF DNES - the Czech Republic's second-largest newspaper - spoke with the former Bruins forward following the loss.
Krejci didn't mention the B's, but did appear to choose his words very carefully.
As per a transaltion website, this is what Krejci's words mean in English:
The Bruins have 21 regular season games left and are well on their way to clinching a playoff berth. Bringing Krejci back in the mix doesn't require them to make any moves ahead of the deadline. However, with Krejci coming in from another professional league, there is no guarantee he would clear waivers before Boston could scoop him up.
So the real question is; should they try and bring Mr. Playoffs back for another Cup run or no?
