Don Sweeney has been the general manager of the Boston Bruins since 2015, and he's received his fair share of disdain from fans.

It doesn't help that he started his tenure by almost throwing away three consecutive first round picks (13th, 14th, 15th) at the 2015 draft. If it wasn't for Jake Debrusk's recent breakout and Jakub Zboril's breakthrough, it could be a lot worse. Since then, Sweeney has made some solid picks for the Bruins.

2016:

Charlie McAvoy, Trent Frederic, Ryan Lindgren.

2017:

Jeremy Swayman

2018:

Jakub Lauko

2019:

John Beecher

2020:

Mason Lohrei, Riley Duran

2021:

Fabian Lysell, Brett Harrison, Oskar Jellvik, Ryan Mast.

And although it's still very early, the 2022 Draft Class is looking pretty good so far, too. Which is impressive for the fact that the club didn't own a pick in the first or third round.

Bruins Benders Podcast recently shared how the most recent prospect pool has faired so far this season:

#NHLBruins 22 Draft
Matthew Poitras C 12-47-59 43gms
Cole Spicer C 2-3-5 26gms
Dans Locmelis C 17-30-47 35gms
Frederic Brunet D 10-46-56 47gms
Reid Dyck G 9-14-1 4.04 GAA .877 sv
Jackson Edward D 3-17-20 44gms

He gets a bad wrap, and deservingly so, but Don Sweeney also deserves some credit for his quietly impressive drafts in recent years.
