Goaltending has been the biggest need for the Edmonton Oilers for the past few seasons.
So, to start 2022 free agency they signed former Toronto Maple Leaf goaltender Jack Campbell, who was signed to a five-year, $25 million.
Oilers captain Connor McDavid appears be very happy with the teams new acquisition. He met with media prior to teammate Zach Hyman's annual golf tournament in Toronto this week.
He discussed his team's new goaltender and took a shot at the Leafs at the same time:
''If he can be the starting goalie for the Leafs, he can be the starting goalie anywhere. Obviously, this is the hockey hotbed and there's a tremendous amount of pressure on whoever fills that net. He's occupied that job for the better part of two years and he's done a great job doing it, so I'm sure he'll transition smoothly.''
