A former Boston Bruin has landed himself his first head coaching gig.

Germany native Marco Sturm has been named the head coach of the Ontario Reign of the AHL.

The Reign are the affiliates of the Los Angeles Kings, where Sturm has been an assistant coach since November 2018.

Sturm came to Boston in November 2005 as part of the package that sent Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks.

Sturm spent five seasons with the Bruins. He played 302 games and recorded 106 goals and 86 assists.
