As per Boston Bruins writer for The Athletic, Fluto Shinzawa has reported that two names have emerged as frontrunners for the club's head coaching job.

One of them is scheduled for an in-person interview next week:

"David Quinn is scheduled for an in-person interview for the Bruins coaching position next week, according to a source familiar with the situation. The native of Cranston, R.I., is considered one of the two leading candidates to replace Bruce Cassidy."

"Jay Leach, the other front-runner, has yet to interview, according to a source close to the former Providence coach. The source indicated Leach will have an interview at some time."

The other names on the shortlist for the job were Jim Montgomery, Spencer Carbery and Joe Sacco. Out of the five, Jay Leach and David Quinn appear to be the frontrunners, with the latter in the lead at this point.

Shinzawa continues:

"Quinn has the personality that general manager Don Sweeney would prefer in his next coach: positive, engaging and uplifting. Cassidy's demanding style with his players, especially his younger ones, prompted Sweeney to fire him at his house on June 6."

"If Quinn gets the gig, he would be reunited with several of his former players aside from McLaughlin. In 2015-16 and 2016-17, Quinn coached Charlie McAvoy at BU. Quinn convinced McAvoy to become a Terrier. His counsel also played a part in the Bruins drafting McAvoy at No. 14 in 2016 following his freshman season."
