The Vancouver Canucks had one of the most unique draft selections from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
With their third round (80th overall) pick, the club selected defenseman Elias Pettersson.
Yes, you read that right:
Five years ago, Vancouver drafted forward Elias Pettersson with the fifth overall pick at the 2017 draft.
Both are from Sweden too of course. Pettersson (forward) is from Sundsvall, while Pettersson (defenseman) is from Vasteras.
Pettersson, who has already been with the Canucks for four seasons, has collected 97 goals and 124 assists for a total of 221 points in 245 points.
