Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak has one year left on his contract with a cap hit of $6.67 million.
General manager Don Sweeney's number one priority this summer is to sign the 30-plus goal scorer to an extension as soon as possible.
Matt Porter of The Boston Globe revealed that Sweeney discussed the ongoing contract talks at the draft in Montreal:
Sweeney also stayed:
''He can score 50 goals in this league. ... He's a superstar in the league. He's a superstar around the world. We're fortunate to have him.''
As per Bruins writer Ty Anderson:
''I've said this on the radio this week, and on the podcast numerous times, but I've never once gotten the impression or idea that he's gone or anything close to gone. I'd be legitimately shocked (shocked!) if the end result is not a big-money, long-term extension with the Bruins.''
