Bruins �'playing with fire'' as Pastrnak contract talks will go down to the wire

Amid what could be a historic season for the Boston Bruins, looms the ongoing worry of David Pastrnak and the lack of a contract extension with the club.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, fans shouldn't worry about whether Pasta will stay in Boston, but it may come down to the wire.

''At the end of the day, I think Pastrnak stays, and it's going to be a big contract. Bigger than we've seen from the Bruins.'' Friedman on 32 Thoughts, who compares the situation to Forsberg in NSH (same agent) which went close to the wire.

Friedman eluded to Filip Forsberg, who signed an eight-year extension with the Nashville Predators just four days before the first day of Free Agency this past summer. Forsberg uses the same agent as Pastrnak, J.P. Barry.

''J.P. Barry has been around a longtime - Last year [with Forsberg] it went the Trade Deadline, it went until right before Free Agency, and it got done.''

So, we may see a very similar situation with Pastrnak but the good news is that it sounds like he really wants to stay in Boston. Friedman continues:

�'The Boston Bruins, look at them historically, they've always had team friendly contract.''

�'McAvoy moved the needle, there's no question about that and Pastrnak is going to, too.''

�'At the end of the day, I think Pastrnak wants to be a Bruin - the Bruins are playing with a little bit of fire here - but I think they're gonna have to bend here, and I think they will.''
