Today, the New York Islanders announced the three contract signings, the first of their offseason. General manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed the extensions of Kieffer Bellows, Noah Dobson and Alex Romanov.
After the signings, Lamoriello made himself available to the media for the first time this off-season. Lamoriello addressed the future of veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara with the club.
Islanders reporter Andrew Gross of Newsday Sports, has reported the following:
''Lou Lamoriello said Zdeno Chara and Andy Greene are not currently considerations for defense roles for next season's #Isles teams. No discussions with them.''
With the lack of interest from the Islanders, it will be very interesting to see what decision the former Boston Bruins captain makes on his NHL future.
