The Boston Bruins will be limited on the blueline to start the 2022-23 season, with Charlie McAvoy and Matthew Grzelcyk sidelined for a couple of months due to off-season surgery.

However, the Bruins have one young defenseman in Jakub Zboril, who appears to be primed to breakout after last season, when he himself had his season cut short after undergoing ACL surgery in November of 2021.

Zboril was, without question, the best Bruins player on the ice in their first preseason matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 25-year-old logged 25:05 of ice-time and was solid all night long.

Head coach Jim Montgomery on Zboril's camp so far:

''I think he's been really good both days. I think he's been ending plays. I like how assertive he's been with the puck. And I've liked his decision-making. Really happy with his start of camp.''

The Czechia native sat down with Bruins reporter Eric Russo recently to discuss his rehab from surgery and his mindset heading into the new season.
