The sponsorships are not very popular among fans, and it's unlikely they will feel any less resentment after seeing the Montreal Canadiens' new jersey ads. Along with announcing Nick Suzuki as the new captain, the club tried to quietly slide in their new advertisements too:
The Edmonton Oilers recently openly stated that no money was worth adding a jersey ad; the Canadiens have obviously not chosen the same. Several teams have ads now, but seeing it on an NHL classic and Original Six jersey feels worse than any others.
Some teams have small advertisements that blend in quite well, as you can barely notice them. However, the Canadiens' new RBC patch appears bigger than Suzuki's new ''C'', which was supposed to be the main attraction of this morning's announcement.
