Most hated player and Stanley Cup Champion Nick Cousins officially signs a contract
Most recent Stanley Cup Champion and most hated player in the league, Nick Cousins has finally agreed to a contract with the Ottawa Senators.
It was just announced that Nick Cousins signed a one-year deal heading into the 2024-25 season with the Ottawa Senators worth $800k.
There were rumours the Boston Bruins might be interested in Nick Cousins, as he plays a very similar game to Brad Marchand, and fits what the style of play of the Boston Bruins, but the Bruins main focus right now is locking up goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
Giving the recent reports of what Jeremy Swayman is asking for, the Boston Bruins might not even have the cap space to sign him. It has been reported that Swayman is asking for $10 million on his next deal, and the Bruins have just under $8 million in cap space.
Nick Cousins is known for being a pesky and dirty player on the ice, it may be a good thing the Boston Bruins decided to pass on him.
"I've never done this before, but I have to do it because this is a trend with this player. And he's done this a numerous amount of times, ramming a guy's head into the boards.
I'm told he's a good guy. I'm told he's liked by his teammates. And he's actually a pretty good hockey player. But somebody in that organization, or somebody that he respects, has to sit down and say, 'Enough of this' ... like, that's a rat to me. I'm sorry, it is."
The Ottawa Senators added a solid depth guy to their squad, who brings some winning experience to the team, and also a decent amount of playoff experience, something they have been looking for.
