The Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames series has been a goaltending duel in every one of the first four games so far. The first two games were shutouts, 1-0 for Calgary in game one and 2-0 for Dallas in game two.

The strong goaltending was evident in game four, especially this highlight-reel save from Jake Oettinger of the Stars on Flames' forward Tyler Toffoli:

The strong goaltending from Flames' Jacob Markstrom was expected as he was one of the top goalies all season long and is reported as one of three finalists for the Vezina Trophy. The surprise story of the series has been the rookie goaltender Oettinger. Although the series has been close so far, Oettinger has outplayed Markstrom by a wide margin.

The 23-year-old is a former standout with the Boston University Terriers, where he spent from 2016 to 2019 as their starting goaltender.

Oettinger came into game four with a goals-against-average of 1.01 and a save percentage of .969, including a 29 save shutout in game two of this series. He had another excellent effort in game four stopping 50 of 53 shots he faced in a 4-1 loss.
