On June 15th, 2011, the Boston Bruins became Stanley Cup champions and ended a 39-year drought by defeating the Vancouver Canucks in seven games.
Tim Thomas won the Conn Smythe for the most valuable player of the playoffs with one of the best postseason runs by a goaltender in NHL history. In 25 games, he posted a 1.98 goals-against-average, a save percentage of .940 and collected four shutouts.
The Bruins defeated the Canucks 4-0 in game seven but were outshot 37-21. Patrice Bergeron (game-winner) and Brad Marchand both had two goals in the game, while defenseman Dennis Seidenberg had two assists.
