Popular Toronto TV station falls for fake trade on Twitter; shares it live on air

A trend of faking trades, signings and even player quotes has caught fire over the past year on sites such as Twitter or Instagram. Some users have gone as far as to copy NHL insider's accounts down to the last details to try and trick people into believing their outrageous reports.
Most of the time, these get ignored and passed over, but every once in a while, a prominent media agency falls for a fake report.
And this time, CP24, a popular Toronto area TV station, picked up a fake trade between the Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks. The station began sharing it across its platforms, including the live ticker.
