The Boston Bruins will start the 2022-23 NHL season without three key players: Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, and Matthew Grzelcyk due to offseason surgeries. However, the Bruins and their fans got somewhat good news on one of those injured.

Grzelcyk underwent shoulder surgery back in June, with a recovery time of at least five months, leaving the Bruins thin at the blue line.

Grzelcyk provided an update Tuesday on his rehab:

''[It's been a] long and slow process physically.''

''No pucks yet, so that will be challenging for me A little more on the conditioning side for me. It's been good.''

He noted that he and his girlfriend Esme's new dog, Teddy, has been «a nice distraction» through the whole rehab process.

While there's no definitive timeline on Grzelcyk, it certainly is encouraging to know he'll be back with the Bruins and skating next week.
