Another Stanley Cup Playoff day. Another goalie and opposing player collision.
First, Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak collided with Carolina Hurricanes Antti Raanta on Wednesday night. As a result of the collision, Raanta was bleeding from his face and was forced to leave the game and did not return.
Re-watch the incident here:
In game two between the New York Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, it was Jeff Carter colliding with Igor Shesterkin. The play leading up to the hit was obviously way different. In my opinion, it almost looks like Shesterkin is the one who sticks out his leg to initiate contact first, and the veteran that Carter is, he doesn't move away from it.
After the play, Shesterkin goes down; then you can see him look up at Carter, and then again is in tremendous pain. I see it as a clear sell job by Shesterkin. There's no doubt that the collision between him and Carter is enough to feel some pain, but I just don't believe it. Shesterkin also stayed in the game and got the win as he seemed fine.
Watch the play here and judge it for yourself:
