Widely considered the top prospect on the blue line for the Bruins, will be returning to the NCAA for his second season instead of signing his entry-level contract.
That prospect is Mason Lohrei, who was drafted in the second round, 58th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'4", 194 lb. left-shot defenseman has decided to return to Ohio State for his sophomore season. Lohrei was second in OSU scoring with 29 points, behind recently signed by the Bruins, Georgi Merkulov, who led the team with 34 points.
There are definitely players that can benefit from moving straight to the NHL, but Mason Lohrei's decision to stay another year at Ohio State is probably for the best.
