Zdeno Chara and the New York Islanders' season ended disappointing, and they missed the playoffs after the team made back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals.

After yet another failed attempt at one last run at a second Stanley Cup, rumours circled that the 45-year-old had played his last game in the NHL. However, at least one team appears to be interested in the veteran defenseman.

Arthur Staple of The Athletic reported that an Eastern Conference team has recently been linked to 'Big Z' regarding a PTO contract. As per Staple:

''#NYR likely still in the market for a veteran D-man to join on a tryout. They had interest in Nathan Beaulieu, who agreed to a PTO with the Ducks on Friday. Not many options left: Thomas Hickey, Michael Stone, maybe even Zdeno Chara among those still out there.''

The Rangers are reportedly still in the market for a veteran defenseman to add some depth on the left side. Nathan Beaulieu was the club's main target before he signed a PTO with the Anaheim Ducks. Now, the Rangers have narrowed their search to three names: Thomas Hickey, Michael Stone and Chara.

Of course, it will be nice to see Chara still in the league for a 25th season; just not in a Boston Bruins jersey is the weird part.
