It's almost impossible for the 2022-23 season to get worse for the Philadelphia Flyers, right?

Wrong. The 27th-place Flyers, already without Sean Couturier and Ryan Ellis for the entire season, the club now received more terrible news regarding another top player.

According to Anthony SanFilippo of Crossing Broad, forward Cam Atkinson will miss the remainder of the season.

''According to multiple sources with the team, forward Cam Atkinson will miss the remainder of the season, as he will undergo a non-orthopedic medical procedure.''

Atkinson was reportedly cleared on November 28th and was practicing with the team. Unfortunately, Atkinson has suffered a set back with his upper body injury that has already kept him out this entire season.

However, it could be even worse than originally thought. As per SanFilippo:

''Crossing Broad has agreed not to publish specifics prior to Atkinson or the Flyers announcing the details of this ''upper body injury,'' but it's serious enough that it could be career-threatening to the 33-year-old veteran.''

Atkinson, 33, had a respectable 23 goals and 27 assists in 73 games in his first season with the Flyers.

The veteran spent the first ten seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, recording 213 goals and 189 assists in 627 games. Atkinson has shown elite scoring ability, with a 35 and 41-goal season.
